EPA CLEAN-UP OF TOXIC GROUND SITE IN COOLCREST
The old River City Metal Finishing property located between Potranco Automotive and Lone Star Cross Fit has been designated as a toxic ground site and will be cleaned up by the EPA. The EPA will be sharing with us their plans for the clean-up and asking for our input as this is being done to protect our water supply. We urge everyone to attend. The first meeting will be held October 4, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Christian Family Baptist Church 1589 Grosenbacher Rd.
UPDATE (Nov. 13, 2018): The EPA laid out their plans for the cleanup process and will keep us updated.
PROPOSED WATER RATE HIKE UPDATE 7/16/2018
A hearing was held July 12, 2018 at which time Southwest Water Co. was determined to be a Class A utility. This will cause a delay in reaching any agreement as to the final water rates. As previously mentioned, I talked with Chuck Costanza from the Country Bend subdivision who is an intervener in our fight with the water company and learned that they have agreed that the rates proposed in Phase 1 will be effective 9-24-2018 as interim rates until this case is settled. They did not agree that these interim rates would be the settlement rates.
UPDATE (Nov. 13, 2018): Southwest Water & the Public Utilities Commission are still holding meetings to try and negotiate what the rate hike will be. Nothing has been agreed upon yet.
UPDATE (Jan 22, 2019) On Jan 4, 2019, the judge ruled that the Phase 1 interim rates will stay in effect until July 26, 2019 or until such time as the Commission sets a final rate, whichever occurs first.
GARAGE SALE SIGNS
In trying to keep our neighborhood clean and neat, it was decided at the last Coolcrest POA Meeting that Garage Sale signs will no longer be allowed to be posted at the entrance to the subdivision. All Garage Sale signs must be posted on the Community Bulletin Board or on the ground beside it. Please date the signs as they must be removed no later than the day after the sale.
Thank you for your cooperation.
